Transformation

I feel like I'm evolving past the boundaries I've set for myself time and time again. The kind that holds you back, the kind that keep you right where you're safe and cozy - within a very limited self imposed box. The more I "wake up", the more accepting I am and I've noticed that my artwork is transforming too. A once rigid me who was overly anal about blending color and making sure everything was just so... now I find myself being more loose. Placing down color without worry of perfection, but instead embracing it. I am letting go, and I find myself more in love with what I am creating than ever because it's growth. Maturity maybe? I am craving imperfection with a purpose.

I'll just pretend I'm a flower among all the other flowers and unfold my petals too.

Transformation is incredible when you really think about it. The process of one thing becoming another, that's why nature always amazes me. How the butterfly or moth literally changes from a caterpillar, wraps itself only when it knows the time is right, melts into goo, and emerges on the other side unscathed, this incredible miracle with wings. Then there is the tadpole who starts out as a tiny dot within a gelatinous blob. A teensy pond inhabitant who eventually grows back legs, front arms, and in time sloths of its tail and hops off as a full fledged frog or toad. And let's not forget about seeds, bulbs, rhizomes, perennials and other flora as well. They push up through the soil, through the darkness, unbeknown of what might be on the other side. The moon it goes through phases, the seasons they cycle, birds molt and change their colors... it's all around us. We are part the greater picture whether we see it or not. Whether we are resistant or accepting. It's all up to us.

Life is a trust fall.

It's scary.

It's beautiful.

Trust the process.

We are nature.

You and me, we are star stuff.

We ebb

flow

cycle

change

and transform
